Pittsburg 27, Eagles 21
Despite the loss, the Eagles looked pretty good last night, especially their first team offense. Yes, the 41 yard TD pass to TO was called back due to a holding call on Tra Thomas (who is looking pretty bad this preseason so far). But the positives outweigh the negatives. Rookie Shawn Andrews is already playing like a veteran all-pro. And the McNabb-TO connection is already bringing a lot of excitement to the squad. However, on the D side of the ball, the Eagles HAVE GOT to be better against the run. Their ex-teamate Duce Staley had his way with the Eagles D last night, carrying the ball 6 times in the opening drive and capping it off with a 14-yard TD run. The fans were gracious and gave him the DUUUUUUUUCE chant, but5 I have a feeling they won't be as hospitable come October when the Stillers return for a regular season matchup.

One other concern I have is the benching of Brian Westbrook. While most Eagles fans will say they're relieved that the #1 running back wasn't subjected to potential injury last night, I think it was a move that only served to spotlight Reid's fear that the Villanova grad might be more fragile than we'd like to believe. Saving him for the regular season might be a prudent move, but he's going to have to take his reps with the team in regular game action sooner or later.
