Just two years ago I was bitching because the Patriots won the Super Bowl, and I thought that in the wake of 9-11 (this was Superbowl 36, in 2002, the first after 9-11), it was rather "poetic" that the Patriots had won.
This year, however, I'm kinda glad that they won. Mostly because the fucking Panthers beat our beloved Eagles to get to the big game.
And that's right, since this is not an officially sanctioned thread, I can't say "Super Bowl," I have to say "the Big Game." Just thought I'd bring that up.
My favorite commercial for the night? It would have to be either the one where the dog bit the guy in the nuts to get his Bud Light, or the one where the bear put Charmin on the center's behind to cause a delay of game when the quarterback couldn't stop feeling the Charmin. But what really caught my eye was the Ford GT. Like, WOW. I want one.
Now, for the game. This was a record-breaking Big Game (tongue in cheek) in that they went 27 minutes without a score. But then the two teams scored 24 points in three minutes to go into the locker rooms at 10-14. And what a finish! The Patriots take a 7-point lead, and then the Panthers tie it up, and then the Patriots kick the field goal with 4 seconds left on the clock to win it. Wow. What a finish.
I have two complaints in the Commercial department. First of all, I'm pissed that Bud Light didn't do any "Real Men of Genius" commercials. Because of their lack of RMOG commercials, I WILL NEVER DRINK BUD LIGHT EVER AGAIN. Of course, I don't drink so I wasn't gonna drink Bud Light again anyway. But still, I'm pissed.
The other complaint was, they showed three commercials with the Ford GT, all of which Erin missed. And all of them were shown in the PRE-game. It's like, fuckers, show the fucking car again! But they didn't. Dammit.
Anyway, I hope wherever you were, if you were watching the game, you had a good time. We certainly did.
