And for the first time in their history, the Philadelphia Eagles are at the TOP of the NFC. Only one other time in the history of the franchise did they win 12 games in the regular season, and that was the year they went to the Super Bowl (1981, where they were defeated by John Madden's Oakland Raiders). At the top of the AFC is those pesky Oakland Raiders. How sweet would it be to have a rematch between those two in the Super Bowl? If you want to see all the playoff standings, click HERE. Also, I have to mention that Tony is a big Green Bay fan. On Sunday morning, the Packers were at the top of the NFC, and after Tampa Bay beat the Bears and the Packers lost to the Jets, they are now #3 in the NFC. Now, I'm not one to gloat, but Tony never reads the BBS anyway so HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHhahahahahahahahahaha!!!! ;D

I was glad that Tampa beat Chicago, because it means that Green Bay has to play in the Wild Card game this weekend. But Tampa is probably going to have to play Green Bay in their next game, and Tampa can't score enough points to beat them. They won on five field goals. They couldn't even score a touchdown.
But I'm glad you are enjoying our Football, Kex. I always thought that European countries largely ignored American Football.

Yes, hard to believe. I thought we'd have the Giants at Philadelphia in week two, and Green Bay at Tampa. Now it's Atlanta at Philadelphia and 49ers at Tampa. It's been a screwy playoffs already.
Given this scenario, I see Tampa Bay at Philadelphia for the NFC championship game. Atlanta's a tough team, but I don't think they're good enough to beat the Birds at home. And the Niners are coming off a tough emotional game and have to play one of the toughest defenses in the league in their house. If a Bucs/Birds NFC playoff game is in effect, the Eagles will go to the Super Bowl. Why? The Eagles have dominated the Buccaneers ever since Andy Reid took over as head coach of the Eagles. He knows how to play them, always has.

My predictions for this week:
Raiders over Titans, 28-24 Eagles over Bucs, 24-6
And Eagles over Raiders in Superbowl 37. Revenge match from 1981. Final score: 24-10 (we've got to beat them by the same score as they beat us in 81).
OK here's my reasons for my predictions:
The Eagles defense has not allowed a touchdown in a home playoff game in the past three seasons, which includes two games against Tampa. So I can't see Tampa scoring a touchdown against the Eagles D. So I'd have to disagree with your Bucs score of 7. Also, the Eagles have scored 56 points against the Bucs in the past two years in the playoffs, and some of those points are defensive touchdowns. Basically, the Eagles D is going to eat Brad Johnson alive. Also, Tampa's head coach, Jon Gruden, who used to be the Eagles' Offensive Coordinator, has not been able to put together a good game plan to stop the Eagles offense. Even when his Raiders beat us in the 2001 season, the Eagles put up 27 points against the Raiders and they were all offensive points. So again, my prediction remains 24-6 Eagles.
The Oakland-Tennessee game will be a hard fought game in which the defenses on both sides will be worn down by two very able quarterbacks in Rich Gannon for the Raiders and Steve McNair for the Titans. Look for Air McNair to rush for at least 50 yards against an Oakland D that doesn't do much against a mobile quarterback. But as hard fought as it will be, the Tennesee D will not stand a chance against the leadership and the arm of Rich Gannon, and Jerry Rice will look at this game as his personal last hurrah. Oakland 28, Tennessee 24.
Finally, because Oakland will have expended so much energy to defeat the Titans, they will bring a lot less to the Superbowl which, again this year, will be only one week after the Conference games. The Eagles will be hyped up because of their "Team of Destiny" branding which has been laid on them for the entire season. Also, you will notice that the Eagles players have a calm confidence about them, one that states that they have every intention to just get the job done. Add to that the fact that they, like the Patriots of last year, are being introduced as a team rather than individually, and you have all the makings of a team that knows what it needs to do to finish the job. Again, Oakland's D cannot contain a mobile quarterback, and Donovan McNabb has certainly erased any doubts to his mobility in the Atlanta game. Coaching will be a key factor in the game, and look for at least one trick play per quarter from Andy Reid. His end-arounds with Thrash have been eating defenses up to the tune of about 30 yards each. McNabb's throwing ability seems to have gotten better with his 8 week furlough, and he seems to be trusting the system more, which is critical in precise execution of the west coast offense.
Defensively, the Eagles are going to be in Gannon's face constantly. He's a pocket passer and not very mobile, so look for at least three sacks. Also, because the Raiders fought the Titans the week before, there won't be much gas left in their tank. I predict an early game field goal, and a late drive resulting in a touchdown when the Eagles goes to a prevent D. Final score: Eagles 24, Oakland 10. That's the only score it can be, since it's the Eagles destiny to grab the Vince Lombardi this year, and that's the exact score that Oakland beat the Eagles by in 1981.
OK, I'm done now. Enjoy the rest of the season ;D

I'm so ready for the NFC championship on Sunday. What a fitting way to end the Eagles' history at Veterans Stadium. The last football game played at the Vet, and it's the NFC Championship. I'm stoked. Stoked I say.
I'm wearing my Eagles green to work today. Number 5, baby. ;D
