Yes, our quest to find a new lead guitarist is officially over as of yesterday. So who, you may ask, is our new lead guitarist?
I am! (Bret)
Yeah, Justin and I were talking it over and we both realized that the whole reason behind looking for a lead guitarist was that it would be easier to find a guitarist than a drummer, at least in the beginning. To that end, I would play the drums when we found a new lead guitarist, and when we found a drummer, I'd move back to rhythm guitar.
That was then. At the time we thought it would be easy to find a lead guitarist, and that we wouldn't be able to function without a drummer. But then we returned to our roots (in a manner of speaking). I recorded all the drum parts and put them on a CD, and we found that we could get every bit as much energy out of our performance by playing live with the CD as we could with an actual live drummer behind us. So for the next couple of shows, depending on how long it takes us to find a drummer, we'll be doing all our live shows this way. You may remember that this is how I was performing live in September and October of 2002, before I met the Justins.
So Justin and I talked it over yesterday via AIM, and we came to the conclusion that we're a lot more fun as a trio than as a quartet. Actually, I came to that conclusion, I don't know if that's the conclusion that Justin came to. But we agreed that it's totally unnecessary to look for a lead guitarist when I can do the job just fine.
Of course, we're still looking for a drummer. we've had some prostpects, some that haven't panned out, some that are still pending. Rest assured that the drummer we choose will be one we feel comfortable with, one who accentuates the band, and one who adds some more fun to the band. Not that we're not fun, but you know, three clowns instead of two... whatever... anyway, that's the news in a nutshell. A big nutshell, but a nutshell nonetheless. ;D
