Quite a bit has happened over the past few days, so I'll try to get it all into one update.
Brenner's Brew, October 25th
The show at the Brew on Friday went extremely well. In fact, it was the best show to date. There were quite a few people there to see both MtD and the other band, Best Food In Town. Some of the Dork Brigade who turned out were Greg from the FAA and Kevin from WGLS. Greg made it just in time to see the opening number, Buddy, the Crack Smokin' Kitty, which was the main reason he came in the first place. When Kevin got there, I did an impromptu version of About A Girl, primarily because I know he likes Nirvana so much.
The technical difficulties were kept to a minimum, and the recording went well, considering I am now using 120 minute cassettes rather than 90 minute cassettes. I finally got a full recording of Angry Inch, thank God. Thanks to JBG for the suggestion of using the 120 minute tapes.
New Drummer
Yes, it's true. After seven years as a solo act, Max the Dork has a real live drummer. His name is Justin Kerr, and let me tell you, he's a wild man on the drums. During the show on Friday, while having some problems with the CD player, I remarked to no one in particular, "Does anyone here know how to play the drums or bass?" After the show, Justin came up to me and asked if I was serious. I said "Hells yes!!!" We talked for quite a while, and I gave him a couple CDs to listen to and made arrangements for him to come to Lake Studios on Saturday.
Well, he came over, and we jammed for the better part of three hours. There was quite a bit of chemistry, and in fact, we banged out a couple songs on the spot when we first started. Hmm, I shoulda had the tape rolling for those... Anyway, he says he knows of a bass player, and if all goes well, we may play live on November 15th as a band. Oh, didn't I mention November 15th?
New Shows
Yes, I've booked two more shows for this year at Brenner's Brew. The first is just a few weeks away, on November 15th. Also playing that night is Syphin, so that should be a kickass show. However, as kickass as November 15th will be, December 20th will probably be the kickassinest show on the face of the planet. I acted as a representative for both Syphin and Value and Quality with their full permission, of course), and booked a show for all three of us on the same night. Yes, that's right kiddies! MtD, Syphin, and V&Q all on the same night. We're gonna rock the rivets out of the bridge. We're gonna bring Bridgeton and the greater South Jersey area to its knees. It's gonna be a fucking blast, so don't miss it. ;D
