Personnel Change
OK, I've put off telling the bad news for long enough, but dammit, I hate telling bad news. However, with the bad comes the good, so here goes:
Matt Something has left the band. Basically it was a mutual parting, and we bear no ill will towards Matt (and we hope he bears none towards us). But it was our feeling that we were pursuing different musical directions, and so we felt that it would be best for all concerned if he were allowed to pursue his interests in a different environment. We wish Matt all the best in his endeavors, and will certainly support him in whatever band he ends up in.
However, this left us with a position to fill, and with a big show coming up this Friday, we filled it with Justin Parker, a very able bassist who works with Tony at the Cumberland Dairy, and who has worked with Tony in the past. He's also been hanging around some of our rehearsals and knows our music, so he was also a quick study. We rehearsed Sunday and Monday and we're pretty confident that he has the material down for the show on Friday. So everyone, please help us to welcome Justin into our little band here. We're certainly glad to have him.
Shows update
While we're on the subject of Friday's show, there's been a band added to the bill, and the show now starts at 7:30 PM. However, I believe the cover charge is still $5 at the door. I'll verify this with Barbara Brenner today. The lineup as it stands now is: Value & Quality, Max the Dork, Syphin, and Spenser. Spenser is an emo-punk band from Cleveland, OH. I've listened to their stuff, and although it's not exactly my cup of tea (you all know I'm not a big Emo fan), they certainly have skills. It should promise to be a good show.
Also, Max the Dork has dropped out of the I.O.U. show. I want to emphasize that this has nothing to do with the departure of Matt Something. It was simply a financial decision. We don't have the funds to put up to get into the show right now. We hope, however, to be able to make the I.O.U. show in the Summer.
One final show update, and this is a preliminary update because the show details have not been finalized yet, but there's a sorority at Rowan University that is holding a benefit concert/battle of the bands early next year, and they've invited Max the Dork to participate. There will be more info on that as it develops.
Rock on! ;D
