It started with the Sex Pistols when I was 8. I had Nevermind the Bollocks from my cousin Daryl (yep, that cousin Daryl) who called them the Piss Sextols and said he hated the album so he gave it to me. He was into Kiss and Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath at the time. After that I got into bands like New York Dolls and the Clash and the Ramones. My first crush (and pre-pubescent fantasy) was with Wendy O. Williams of the Plasmatics. I was ten when Sid Vicious died and I cried about it when I read it in Circus magazine. A year later, John Lennon was shot and I thought he was one of the Monkees. That tells you where my musical interests were at the time. Anyway, I remember listening to Nevermind the Bollocks really quiet in my room, coz I knew it was not something my parents wanted me to be listening to. Bodies was probably my favorite song on that album, and I used to turn red-faced when Johnny Rotten spit out the lines "Fuck this and fuck that, fuck it all and fuck the fucking brat." I could just see my father kicking in the door to my bedroom and busting the platter over my head. Luckily, he never did.
So yea, that's my introduction to punk rock.

I was raised on punk dood. Well, among many other things. I was introduced to Mr. Bungle when I was 5. This poster was on the ceiling above the couch I slept on when I was 7.

I never really got into Public Image, Ltd. Don't know why, either, but I felt it paled in comparison with the Sex Pistols.
