SUVs are the spawn of Satan unleashed on the world of mortals. They consume fossil fuels - a limited resource - at an alarming rate, and they spew toxic filth and carcinogens into the air. I see dozens of them on my trip to work, and very VERY rarely (less than once a day) do I see one that's being utilized in a "utility" fashion - hauling cargo, or even carrying more than one person.
People who drive SUVs should be driven over by their own vehicles. There is no use for an SUV if you live in the city and drive yourself to work alone. Don't give me crap about bad weather, because I have only ever driven front-wheel drive cars in bad weather and never had an issue. Get yourself a car with a big trunk and 30+ MPG fuel efficiency and shut the fuck up.
How many times do you see an SUV with mud on it? How many times do you see an SUV with a full load of passengers? How many times do you see an SUV laden with cargo and/or tools for a construction job? That sort of use is usually delegated to the pickup truck.
SUVs are not generally used for Sport or Utility. They are the most wasteful vehicles on the planet, and the most polluting. Even deisel trucks have better emissions standards than SUVs.
Put an SUV against a car in an accident and the SUV will probably win, with mutiple fatalities. That is, if it doesn't roll over many times after the collision.
Can anyone tell me one good fucking reason why anyone would buy an SUV?
