ASCAP sues the Girl Scouts for RoyaltiesThis has to do with ASCAP, BMI, and similar music publishing firms, not the RIAA. The issue here is not copying recorded material, but rather "public performance" of copyrighted material. To me, that makes the issue even more assinine. The RIAA deals with recorded music, and ASCAP and BMI deal with published music, as in sheet music that you can buy and certain performance rights you must obtain in order to perform a song, such as a cover. The thing is, these are fucking Girl Scouts! And these unconscionable sons of bitches have no problem suing a group of little girls because they didn't pay royalties to sing "God Bless America" around the campfire at night. What a crock of shit. Just one more group we need to turn our backs on for ass-fucking a bunch of little girls.

ASCAP = Satan incarnate RIAA < ASCAP I understand looking out for the interests of the composers, but for christ sake, girlscouts singing around a campfire won't break any of them.
