First of all, this:
is Pungent Vomit of Intense Mutilation performing with Max the Dork. All I can say is, we had a fucking BLAST. Performing with P-Vomit was a dream come true for me. Especially since I'd never even seen IM in concert before; and being on the stage with him was just so fucking surreal.
So yeah, the Holly Bowl show was awesome. Thanks to all of you who came out (you know who you are!), hope you enjoy your IM samplers (Pungent pulled them out of his pants and threw them into the audience, what a showman). And for those of you who didn't make it, you missed a helluva show, but that's OK, there'll be more opportunities. It was a great crowd on Saturday, big ups to the crowd for actually dancing and moving around rather than just standing around with your hands in your pockets and your arms folded. Good deal. And thanks for making Pungent feel at home, so to speak. It's been quite a while since IM has performed live, and I know he had a great time, and enjoyed the reception he got for performing such classics as Foreplay, Just Say No, and Rent-a-Placenta.
So we went on first because Justin (our bass player) had to go to work right after. After us, Brokenfixed hit the stage. Brokenfixed always gives a high-energy performance and this one was no exception. As per usual, Phil brought his trademark "bucket performance" to the stage (he has a tendency to throw up whenever he performs - that's why I call him "Phil Buckets"), but even his heaving didn't hamper the show. Next up was Last Week of the Day who are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands in South Jersey. Of course they kicked it with their show-stopper, "Eat A Hoagie, You Fat Bitch." God, I love that song. Next up was a band I hadn't heard before but will be looking for again in the future, The Low Budgets. I didn't know anything about them but they gave a solid performance with a lot of energy and noise. Good stuff all around.
Headlining the night was The Scandals, and let me tell you, if you've not seen the Scandals live, you're missing out. As good as their recordings are, they're nothing compared to their live performance. They really got the crowd going with Voice of the New Revolution (one of their standards), and their light show and fog machine really made for a really cool show.
I really liked the entire atmosphere of Holly Bowl, and although it was our first time playing there, I'm fairly sure it's not our last. I'll be looking to book more shows there, it was definitely a good time.
Here are some pictures from the Max the Dork portion of the show. The 401 Records staff photographer, Erin, took the shots. And although the shots are in black and white, yes, Jon's hair really was green. (-:
Until next time!
