US Supreme Court refuses to hear caseThe basic gist of this is as follows: In 2000, a comic book store owner was arrested for selling two adult-themed comic books to adults. The books in question were "Demon Beast Invasion" and "Legend of the Overfiend." These are grisly and pornographic anime comic books, also called "Manga." He did not sell them to minors. He did not display them prominently. He held these issues in an adult section of his store and only sold them when asked for them specifically by adults over 18. Yet he was arrested for breaking what Texas deems "Obscenity laws." Remember Texas? The home of Gee-Dub and the state that gave you illegal sodomy between consenting homosexual partners? Yeah, that Texas. The fact that the US Supreme Court refused to hear this case saddens me, as it will surely open the door to more stringent "obscenity laws" as determined by the ultra-conservative ultra-rightwing state legislators in Texas, making Texas possibly the most censorshp-ridden state in the nation, if it isn't already. No wonder there was so much flack over Natalie Maines' comments (Remember she was the Dixie Chick who said during a London concert that, as a Texan, she was ashamed of George Bush). Just when I thought I couldn't write more songs about censorship, it turns out I was wrong.

Well, let's see. The city of Phoenix PTA got together to burn "evil" copies of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, so I wrote "Condemn Nation." Then the police in Guilderland, NY arrested a man and his son for wearing t-shirts that said "Give Peace a Chance" at the Crossgates Mall - shirts that they bought AT the mall; so I wrote "Crossgates Wall." I'm thinking that this incident rates another song.

I don't, for example, like OCM's new stupid name much. But if he likes it, that's cool I guess.
