On Thursday, April 7, 2005, Bret Walker of Max the Dork and 401 Records lost his job at the FAA Technical Center. This job was pivotal to the success of 401 Records in that it allowed Bret the freedom of working toward promoting the label, all the while being able to afford daily ammenities such as a mortgage, gas, food, and utilities to support his wife and two children.
As you can imagine, losing this job is a huge impact. Bret is currently seeking employment elsewhere, but so far has found no takers. Now, Bret is eligible for Unemployment Insurance, but there's a serious problem with the system. Unemployment insurance payments are capped to $450 a week. In his job, Bret was making about $1,500 a week. The severe reduction in pay impacts him and his family, not to mention the record label, in a very serious way.
What can you do to help? Donate a dollar to the Bret Walker Unemployment Fund. Just a dollar, no more, that's all we ask. If enough people see this ad and donate just one dollar, Bret and his family can get through this period while Bret searches for another position somewhere else. This will ensure the survival of his family and the record label, which provides services for several local bands, not to mention his recording studio which provides excellent recording services at bargain basement prices - and all because Bret is a great supporter of the local scene and bands that are just starting out.
So please donate a dollar by clicking on the button below. And please share this ad with everyone you know, so that we might help a fellow human being in need.
Thank you.

I got out of bed refreshed, having had the first good night's sleep this week (-: I feel a bit strange because we've just moved to Idaho and there's a weird smell in the house. I'm so hardcore. Me and Buzz went to the mall today, and I stole a whole heap of stuff. I got a Good Charlotte CD, a couple of DVDs and some new boots. Buzz got caught, but he fought his way out, and then we stole some lady's car and smashed it into a phone booth. Last night I had to shave my entire body. Apparently, the lice that I caught from Amanda's friend are really hard to get rid of. I look quite strange with no hair and eyebrows. I'd post pictures, but my webcam is broken. I want to tell the world that I'm gay. I am really annoyed with those assholes at _are_you_hotter_than_us_?, because I am so much cuter than them, and those photos don't do me justice. They can't reject me, so I'm starting my own rating community. Click here to join (the first five applicants are automatically accepted). Today, I got a digital camera! Yes! Here's some photos of my cock. I want to say thanks to simon and Abbey and Dave and the other Simon for helping me on Saturday. You guys are the best. By the way, if you happen to find my wallet, keys or underwear, could you SMS me? Adrian has my number. I went to the doctor yesterday, and he said I have bipolar disorder, which makes me different enough to be interesting, but the same as all the other cool people with bipolar disorder. You should all do this quiz! It's amazingly accurate. You just put in your name and birthday, and it will tell you you're a moron. That's enough for now. But I'll leave you with this poem I wrote. It's about my friend Robert, who has bipolar disorder. Just like me. And Heidi. I think this is easily shaping up to be the best one-man thread ever

[ mood | contemplative ] [ music | MC 900 Ft Jesus - If I Had Only a Brain (REDZONE RADIO >>> We Don't Need No Stinkin' Badges << ]
Here's a little brain bender for you on this fine Christmas Eve.
In the movie of your life, who plays YOU?
For me, I said Horatio Sanz or the guy from The Full Monte who played Fred Flintstone in Viva Rock Vegas.
Erin, however, said I'd be better played by John Travolta or Tom Hanks.
Someone is deluded. But OK, whatever (-;
good choice in music hombre

wait, back up.
On the one hand, I'm very sad that Brett Farve's dad died. I feel for him.
On the other hand, I hope he still plays tonight because he's my fantasy quarterback, and it's the league playoffs.
hahaha faggot's dad died, yay!!!!!

Here's an email I got from Dan who books shows for Chubby's, which is where I was trying to book a show this Sunday: Bret, Its very tough on my end - Chubbys is 4X the size of the Saint... And by my records you were able to get about 7 people out to your show there (The Saint / Feb 23). How may people would you get to Chubbys (w 4 days notice)? I have to be curious - if bands cannot draw people it comes from my pocket... Dan www.jerseyshows.com See, he's gonna hold it against me that we couldn't get more than seven fans out on a Sunday night to a show that was an hour and a half outside our regular stomping grounds. And that was a year ago. What the fuck can we do? What good is it to have people who like your music if they never come out to support your band? I could have a million people telling me how great the band is, but if I can't get ten people out to a show, we'll never book a single show. Thank God for Brenner's and Full Circle, I guess. just like new jersey bands, blame it all on your fans, ya jerk!

Everyone I know who has ever heard Max the Dork's music has loved it. Everyone I know who has seen us live has loved us. Yet no one wants to buy our shit. It's only frustrating to me because the production for Crapital Punishment cost me $420 out of my pocket, and our band fund only has $42 in it. Now I have to put out $10 more to get clean radio edits of three songs, and again that will probably come out of my pocket because the band fund is so anemic. We also need a PA, which by my calculations will set us back (and by "us" I mean "me" again) about $700. the gigs we play are hardly worth the effort when no one shows up. And when no one shows up, the clubs don't wanna book us again.
Now, it's true that the music I write is primarily for my own entertainment. But the problem is, it's hard to be entertained when you're losing money ass over tincup. I love this CD and I listen to it constantly. And if I were financially independent I probably wouldn't give a shit. But I'm not, so I guess I do.
It's just frustrating, I guess, when so many people say they love the band, but no one buys a CD. It's like, well what the fuck?
I don't know, it's probably just the holidays getting on my shit that put me in this funk, but whatever. I just wish some people would show up to our shows or something. I'm trying to book a show for Sunday at a club we've never played before, and when he asked how many people we could bring out, I said about 20, which is true, we could bring out about 20, and 20 people will probably say they will come, but none of them will. That's what happened to us at our Philly gig last summer. We had a ton of people saying they'd come, and only FOUR people showed up (including our wives, for christ sake).
Don't mind me, I'm just feeling rather useless and spent at the moment. And the Flyers lost last night.
MOVE TO LOUISIANA! One OCM = 500 regular fans

Welcome home. You're SO Jersey. You know Wildwood and Seaside are the most disgusting places on earth, and only good for drunken after prom vacations, you know there's always a "short-cut" to someplace. Isn't Jersey great? I mean, where else can you go 80 MPH and STILL be the slowest car on the road? How JERSEY are you?
