Sugar Ray.
At one time I liked them. They were a ballsy and in-your-face hardcore punk band, and they had no class. They were phenomenal. Even the album that catapulted them to stardom, the one with "Fly" on it, was psycho punk from start to almost finish.
Something happened. After the radio success of "Fly," I don't know what happened but then they started to majorly suck. And nowadays they're practically the Backstreet Boys. It's almost like they all got sex changes, except now I'm sure that even Courtney Love could kick Mark McGrath's ass.
I mean, what the fuck is up with that anyway?
Just throwing that out there.

i would have to agree with you there, bratley. i mean, each time their sappy-sweet bullshit comes on the radio i want to gag.
what happened to that hard-assed band?
some dumb-ass music company said, "Ok, let's do this, do that, and BTW- you guys need a makeover. I'm thinking just like 'NSync, but with a little more edge, what do you think?"
Mark McGrath's reply? he bent over and said, "ok, I'm in!"

You know, for some bands it's all about the [glow=green,2,300]green[/glow]. They start out with pure ideals, sure, but if their convictions are not strong enough, the minute someone flashes them the cash they fold like a bad poker hand.
I swear to God, I hope that never happens to me. Of course, I don't think there's any real danger of that! In order to sell out, you have to be making [glow=red,2,300]mad[/glow]money. Or for that matter, any money at all.

Hahahah, so true. I'm estimating that from about the time I found out about you, you've spent atleast 3 times more than you earned..what with the paying for the domain and hosting, and making the CDs and such.

Hey, you know, for me it's not about the money, I to it all to stroke my own ego!!! And money is no object!!!
All told, I've probably spent roughly 20 times what I've made. I don't know, and I don't think in those terms usually. But what the hey? I said it in my credo that I'm my own biggest fan, and I make music for me. Other people should feel priveledged that I'm finally sharing it with the world (-:

Well for one thing Bret I commend you on a job well done, even making the album was to just stroke your own ego thats still awesome, I for one think you did a hell of a job. i'm trying to find an artist to draw a comic that I have written 6 issues so far and I'll go all the way to submitting it to every major comic company out there once I can find an artist. I will try my damndist to make some bucks but its more about the personal satisfaction of doing something that creative. if i dont sell one copy thats fine with me.. The personal satisfaction I'll get out of it will be well worth the effort.
;D
Greg (who got 4 tickets last night driving home from work,,,, bastards!)
