There's a new artist on the 401 Records label. The band is called Spare Change, and they hail from Mt. Pleasant, SC. I've heard quite a few punk bands as a reviewer for Garageband.com, and I was actually quite surprised to find out that this band is comprised entirely of 14 year olds. They play with an intensity and maturity beyond their years. They certainly have a good handle on what's punk and what isn't, as witnessed in their song Punk Against Society.
Here, in their own words, is the brief history of the band:
2 summers ago Brendan, and Ryan were in a 4 piece band together. They all quit because they couldn't make anything up. About three months later they decided to form a band again without Ryan. They were called Short Bus. They were together for about 7 months. They played at two parties. At the same time Chris, Rhett were in a band together but they were horrible so they kicked out the guitarist and got Ryan. At the same time Short Bus broke up. After About a month of playing together we decided we wanted a 4-piece and that's when we became Spare Change. Brendan's older brother helped us come up with the name. That was in January 2002. Since then we've kept on playing.
