If you want to see how Nike, as such, began, check out either "Prefontaine" or "Without Limits" (the second being my personal choice). Steve Prefontaine was a long distance runner who ran at Oregon under Bill Bowerman. Bowerman, according to "Without Limits," made all the shoes for his runners himself. There was even a scene in each movie where Bowerman was ruining his wife's waffle iron by pouring rubber on it while making lightweight soles for his runners' shoes. And "Without Limits" shows Bowerman giving Pre a pair of shoes with the Nike Swoosh on it. But seriously, check out "Without Limits," because it's an awesome movie; Donald Sutherland is awesome as Bill Bowerman, and Billy Crudup is awesome as Steve Prefontaine. R. Lee Ermey, who played the drill instructor in "Full Metal Jacket," plays Bill Bowerman in "Prefontaine." And I don't remember who plays Steve Prefontaine in that one. Just watch "Without Limits," it's a great movie. ;D

they do show a scene with the waffle iron in prefontaine, too, it's just not as... prominant as in without limits.

that is very true, but I don't think he has had plastic surgery, but then again I have no idea. I love his eyes they looked so innocent. But he was a track coach, there's no way that he is.

You have to see "Without Limits." He was a great guy if that's how he really is in real life.

All I can say is, Billy Crudup is an awesome actor. Have you ever seen him in Jesus' Son? Great stuff. And he really plays Steve Prefontaine very well in Without Limits. You won't be disappointed. (Also, Matthew Lillard has a small role in Without Limits, which in and of itself makes it worthy of viewing)
